Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Anna Ruth Simmons, age 74, died May 9, 2010, at her home in Oxford, MS. Born in Drew, MS, she was the daughter of Arthur and Anna McDade Bridges. She lived in Memphis most of her life and was retired from Sears after a 30-year career as an Executive Assistant for the Regional Sales Department. Mrs. Simmons was a member of Anchor Baptist Church of Oxford. She enjoyed music, gardening, and was an avid reader. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 11, 2010, 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 12, 2010, 2:00 p.m. in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gerald Shook officiating. Interment will be in the Garden of Memories located at Coleman Funeral Home, 295 Hwy. 7 North, Oxford, MS. Survivors include two sons, Danny (Wanda) Parks of Byhalia, MS and Larry (Patty) Parks of New Albany, MS; two daughters, Shelia (Ray) Crain of Taylorsville, KY and Patricia (Richard) Kent of Ripley, MS; two stepsons, Edward Simmons, Jr. of Clarksdale, MS and Scott Simmons of West Memphis, AR; one step-daughter, Julie Austin of Batesville, MS; two sisters, Carolyn Catledge of Tupelo, MS and Irma Jean Thomas of Tutwiler, MS; one brother, Jim Bridges of Greenville, MS; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her husband, T.A. Parks and her second husband, Edward Simmons; her parents, three brothers and three sisters preceded Mrs. Simmons in death.
