Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Ms. Barbara Ann Nolan, 61, passed away Friday, November 6, 2020, at her home in Sardis, MS surrounded by her children. A memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a memorial service to immediately follow at 4:00 p.m. Bro. Fish Robinson will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements. Ms. Barbara was born to the late John Thomas and Betty Sue Lipsey in Lexington, MS. She spent her career painting as a residential, commercial, and industrial painter. Ms. Barbara loved her family and friends unconditionally. She taught many life lessons to her children, David, Felicia and John in addition to many neighborhood kids who also considered her “Mom”. She led by her true grit and the example of “If life knocks you down, get back up and try again!”. She taught her children to never take “no” for an answer. She stayed by John’s side through thick and thin and was always there when he needed her the most. Ms. Barbara pushed her kids to finish school and to strive for the best. She was always concerned with their education. She pushed David to finish high school even when he had senioritis and when she found out her daughter Felicia had skipped school to go shopping, she dragged her out of the store by her ear. She loved and cared for her children but her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held her heart. Mamaw’s face would light up with joy whenever the grandkids came to visit. She was always telling Felicia and David to “kiss my girls” for me upon their goodbyes. Her family describes her as being free spirited, caring and showing love like no other. She had an excellent green thumb, was a fantastic cook, loved the outdoors including fishing, swimming and tanning with her friends at Thompson’s Creek. She enjoyed attending biker rallies to be around Harley Davidson motorcycles and spend time with her biker family. She had a unique laugh and sense of humor, and the absolute best at giving hugs. She will unquestionably be missed by her family and friends. Ms. Barbara is survived by two sons, David (Amy) Saxton, of Water Valley, and John Saxton, of Sardis, MS; one daughter, Felicia Walters, of Water Valley, MS; her grandchildren, Raymond, Angel, Brittany, Bethany, Kooper, and Maddie and Taylen; her great-grandchildren, Lilleigh and Leon; her sister, Donna (Charles) Campbell; and her brother, Louis (Tina Marie) Lipsey. Ms. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, John Thomas and Betty Sue Lipsey; three grandchildren, Jacob David, Lillian and Danielle; and one great-grandchild, Sophie Rae.
