Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Bettye Jane Davis, 77, died Monday, September 27, 2010 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. Born in Lafayette County, she had lived in the Oxford area her entire life. Mrs. Davis had been self-employed over thirty years caring for children in her home. Being artistic, she enjoyed many types of crafts and sewing. Spending time with her family and friends brought her great pleasure. Mrs. Davis read her Bible daily and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Oxford, MS. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 28, 2010, 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Shannon Davis and Bro. Robert Frierson officiating. Interment will be in the Garden of Memories at Coleman Funeral Home. Survivors include two sons, Thomas W. Davis, Jr. of Memphis, TN and Tony Davis of Olive Branch, MS; two daughters, Brenda Wimberly and Lisa Carper both of Oxford, MS; two brothers, Ralph Huckaby of Chattanooga, TN and Curtis Huckaby, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, MS; two sisters, Mary West of Amory, MS and Jeanette McCoy of Tupelo, MS; 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Thomas Wright Davis, Sr. and her parents, Curtis and Julia Huckaby, preceded Mrs. Davis in death.
