Dennis Ray Fitts Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Dennis Ray “DeDe” Fitts, 60, of Oxford died at his home on Monday, January 11, 2010. Born in Pleasant Grove, MS, he lived in Oxford since 1984, where he served as supervisor of the Oxford Post Office and postmaster of the University Post Office. He was an avid people-person, who delighted in giving small children high fives and friends a firm handshake, a smile and a hug. He was an active member of First Baptist Church where he served as food services director for 14 years. He was ordained a deacon at Como Baptist Church and served as a deacon at FBC before he joined the church staff. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2010, 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 14, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church with visitation at the church from 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Dr. Eric Hankins and Dr. Robert Allen will officiate. Interment will be in the Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Beth Fitts of Oxford; two daughters, Lynndy (Steve) Hurdle and Marni (Thomas) Herrington both of Oxford, MS; two grandchildren, Ella Beth Hurdle and Carter Matthew Herrington; one brother, Jimmy Fitts of Olive Branch, MS. Mr. Fitts was preceded in death by his parents, John Arthur and Alyce Fitts.
