Mr. Derick Lawson Johnson

October 3, 1977 - May 9, 2022

Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven Derick Lawson Johnson, 44, passed away May 9, 2022, in Southaven, MS. A visitation will be held Sunday, May 22, 2022, from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Compel Church (820 Church Road E, Southaven, MS, 38671). A funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 P.M., also at Compel Church. Pastor Tom Vankempen will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of arrangements. Derick was born October 3, 1977, in High Point, NC. Derick was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to everyone. The love Derick had for his wife, Sandra was indescribable. They were nearly inseparable and really enjoyed being with each other. He never left his love for her unsaid or unfelt. Their love was a once in a lifetime kind of love; they were true soulmates. Derick loved and was so proud of all of his children. He would beam with pride whenever speaking about one of them. He always wanted the best in life for them. Derick had another deep love in his life…his dogs. He loved his dogs, Kita, Zeus, Raine and baby Lucy like they were his children. Derick was a hard worker and took great pride in his job. He worked in logistics for over 25 years. He spent the last 2 years working as an Operations Manager at Radians, Inc. in Memphis, TN. He spent his free time with his family, playing with his beloved dogs, watching various sports games or being involved in church activities. Anyone that knows Derick knew how extremely important his faith in God was to him. One of the things that Derick truly loved was serving God and his church, Compel Church. He was a member of the church’s security detail. Everyone coming into church would see his bright blue eyes and a cheerful smile. He will truly be missed by his family, friends and the church he so proudly served. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Sandra Johnson, of Southaven; his sons, Audric Johnson, Jaydon Johnson, and Brennan Johnson, all of Newnan, GA, and Joseph Sanchez Jr. of Southaven, MS; his daughters, Chaelynn Johnson of Newnan, GA and Alena Headin, of Southaven, MS; his granddaughters, Aislynn Shaw and Avalyn Shaw, both of Stockbridge, GA; his sister, Samantha (Sean) Martin of Jacksonville, NC; his grandmother, Barbara Dixon of Trinity, NC; his step-father, Michael Ross of Rocky Point, NC; and a host of extended family and friends. Derick was preceded in death by his mother, Pamela Ross and his grandfather, Roy Dixon Sr.. Donations or memorials in honor of Mr. Derick Lawson Johnson may be made to Compel Church in Southaven by mail (820 Church Road E, Southaven, MS, 38671) or online, https://pushpay.com/g/lfcsouthaven?src=hpp. Online condolences may be left on his Tribute Wall at www.colemanfuneralhome.com.
