October 30, 1929 - July 8, 2021
Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch Eddie Lorraine Hodges went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 8, 2021. Lorraine, as she preferred to be called, was born in Ashland, MS, on October 30, 1929. After moving to Memphis as a teenager, she attended Central High School and began working for New York Life Insurance Company after graduation. It was in Memphis that she met the sailor who was the love of her life and her husband for 65 years, Warren Hodges. As a military family, they moved across the United States numerous times until retiring in 1963. At that time, Lorraine went to work for Holiday Inns of America and worked there until she retired. Lorraine’s life was centered around her Lord and her family. She served in many churches over the years in children’s ministries, and was a beloved member of Providence Baptist Church at the end of her life. She was a tremendous prayer warrior and a faithful student of the Bible. Lorraine loved to get to know people. She was a great listener and a confidante to many. Lorraine loved her family fiercely. She was an extraordinary cook, baker, and candy maker. She delighted her family with many holiday dinners and fabulous desserts, none of which she ever thought tasted quite good enough. She was wrong! Lorraine lost her beloved Warren in 2018, but is survived by her daughter Pam Trim (Tony) of Memphis, TN and her son Randel Hodges (Ann) of Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, who called her “Nonie,” Vanessa Brannon (Jason), Nathan Hodges, William Hodges, and Sarah Hodges and three great-grandchildren, Elijah, Addie, and Jack. Her family will hold a private memorial service to honor her life with burial at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. Gifts in Lorraine’s honor may be sent to the Memphis Union Mission at www.memphisunionmission.org. Online condolences may be left on her tribute wall at www.colemanfuneralhome.com.
