Edmund Gregory Ward

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Gregory was born July 23, 1981, in Corinth, MS, to Edmund Haynes Ward and Allison Miller Ward. He died at home in Oxford, MS, after a long illness on October 10, 2006. He is survived by his parents, grandparents, two sisters and a brother. The grandparents are Doctor Dennis Ward and Doctor Mary Ward of Jackson, TN, and G. W. Miller and Martha Miller of Columbia, TN. His sisters are Mary Ward of Oxford and Clara Taylor of Booneville. His brother is William Ward of Oxford, MS. Gregory graduated from Lafayette County High School and Northwest Mississippi Junior College. He attended the University of Mississippi until his illness made it impossible to go further. Gregory was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Oxford. Gregory was a life member of the Mayflower Society. He served on the Advisory Board of Mississippi L.I.F.E. Youth. He received the State L.I.F.E. award for L.I.F.E. Achievement. In 2000, he was given the Youth Character Award by the Law Enforcement Officers Association. He was placed in the Lafayette County High School Hall of Fame. Gregory loved to travel and was able to see New York City and some Broadway plays. He took a trip to Plymouth for the Thanksgiving celebration. He made a trip to England, which he especially liked. He soldiered on and rarely complained. He loved his family and friends and was beloved. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 12, 2006, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the parish hall at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and the funeral services will be held at St. Peter’s on Friday, October 13, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Taylor Moore officiating. Interment will be at the church. Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the M.D.A., 3149 Players Club Parkway, Memphis, TN 38125 (include the name and family’s mailing address) or St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 113 South 9th Street, Oxford, MS 38655.
