Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Evelyn Farnell Jackson, 46, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022. A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a memorial service immediately following at 4:00 p.m., all at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of all arrangements. Evelyn was kind and patient, with a mind full of intelligence. She was a devoted mother and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially if it involved outdoor activities. Her hobbies included traveling, hiking, gardening, and taking walks. She loved to visit the beach. Evelyn was born in Mobile, Alabama, and grew up in Hoover, Alabama. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Auburn University, and then followed with a Master of Science in Biology from the University of Alabama. She settled in Oxford and worked at the University of Mississippi as a Lecturer in the Department of Biology. She taught and advised thousands of students over the course of her career. Evelyn will be missed by all those who loved and cherished her. Evelyn is survived by her husband, Dr. Colin Jackson; her children, Owen and Will Jackson; and her siblings Cynthia Farnell (Dan Powell) and Andrea (Steve) Nicholas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Daniel Reese Farnell, Sr., and Carolyn Williamson; and one brother, Daniel Reese Farnell, Jr. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a cancer charity of your choice.
