Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Floyd A. Holman, 94, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2007 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Oxford, MS. Mr. Holman was a lifelong resident of Lafayette County. He was a member of the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce Bureau of Plant Industry. Mr. Holman was pictured in the Oxford Eagle numerous times when he brought in the first cotton boll of the season for Lafayette County. He was featured on “Good Morning, America” for his agricultural achievements. Mr. Holman was a Mason and a member of the Harrisonville Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Friday, March 16, 2007, 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 12:00 noon at the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Reeves officiating. Interment will be in the Garden of Memories located at Coleman Funeral Home. The repast will be held after the service at Clear Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Holman is survived by Leona Hill, caregiver; one son, James Young of Oxford, MS; one daughter, Vassor Joiner of Oxford, MS; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; a host of friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Bertha Holman; one sister, Jimmy Lee McEwen; two brothers, Ben Holman and Q. V. Holman.
