Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Oxford, MS—Frankie Faye Bruce, 85, passed away from natural causes, Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, with family and friends by her side. Service: 12(noon) Wednesday, Dec 22, 2010 at Coleman Funeral Home chapel. Internment: 2pm at Bethesda Cemetery in Senatobia, MS. Visitation: 4pm-7pm, Tuesday, Dec 21, 2010 at Coleman Funeral Home, Oxford, MS. Box 80, Abbeville, MS 38601. Frankie Faye was born June 10, 1925 to Dove and R.J. Sloan in Senatobia, MS. She married Wesley D. Bruce, Jr. in 1947. She proudly served as an officer’s wife, supporting Wesley’s military career as he served two tours overseas in post WWII Europe, a tour during the Korean Conflict, and numerous stateside posts. Retiring, she and Wesley lived 30 years in El Paso, TX prior to her return to her childhood home of Abbeville, MS, where she lived with her beloved sister, Peggy Jean Sloan. Frankie Faye loved animals and nature. She loved to travel and was fascinated by other cultures. She faithfully corresponded with hundreds of friends from their years in the military and El Paso, and generously supported a multitude of charities and organizations throughout her lifetime. She loved baking at Christmas time. Her famous pecan pies were regularly shipped cross-country and her mincemeat cookies were a well-kept family secret. Frankie Faye had many hobbies, from collecting angels to genealogy, spending the last months of her life searching census records online. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Warren Craig Bruce; her brother, Robert Thomas Sloan; and husband, Wesley D. Bruce Jr. Survivors: Son, Wesley D. Bruce III, his wife, Nancy; daughter, Frankye Bruce, daughter in spirit, Beth Kaufmann; sister, Peggy Jean Sloan; sister-in-law, Carolyn Adams and husband, Edwin; brother-in-law, Webster Bruce and wife, Faye; sister-in-law, Gudrun Sloan, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
