A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 2:00 p.m., also at Calvary Baptist Church. Interment will immediately follow at Abbeville Cemetery. Bro. Stacy Watkins and Bro. Joe Lusby will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements. Harvie was born in Arkansas to Bill and Clysta Watkins. After a time of farming, he started working at North East Power Association, spending over 40 years working there, climbing a lot of poles and then supervising the right of way crew. Harvie is described by his family as being compassionate, caring, and a very Godly man. He loved all sports and from his youth up until his sixties, he played most any sport that was offered, and even coaching some. He also enjoyed gardening and doing electrical work on the side. He would help anyone in need but never wanted to be praised for it. He truly did everything from his heart, never expecting anything in return. He also worked in the jail ministry. But above all, he loved his family and wanted nothing but the best for them and for them to always be happy and to have fun but most of all to love and serve the Lord. He will be dearly missed by all those who loved and cherished him. Harvie is survived by his wife, Bobbie Watkins, of Abbeville, MS; his children, Stanley (Alice) Watkins, of Abbeville, Peggy (Keith) Thomas, of Oxford, Steve (Betty) Watkins, of Water Valley, MS, Penny (Bob) Colston, of Abbeville, Pam (Jim) Brown, of AL, Stacy (Martha) Watkins, of Abbeville, and Patty (Joe) Lusby, of Holly Springs, MS; one step-daughter, Kristy (Kerry) Hollowell, of Oxford; sixteen grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Juanita Watkins; and his parents, Bill and Clysta Watkins. The family would like to express their appreciation to Home Health and Kindred Hospice for their excellent care, especially Jackie Sawyer and Leigh Ann Morgan. In lieu of flowers, donations and memorials can be made to the Gideons (P.O. Box 142 Oxford, MS 38655) or the Abbeville Cemetery Fund (P.O. Box 19 Abbeville, MS 38601). Please leave online condolences on his Tribute Wall at www.colemanfuneralhome.com.
