Rev. Howard E. Tucker Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Rev. Howard E. Tucker, 65, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS. Visitation will be Friday, August 5, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford (601 Commerce Pkwy., Oxford, MS 38655). A memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m., also at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford. Rev. Walter Goldsmith will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements. Rev. Tucker was born January 26, 1957, in Macon, MS. He grew up a very educated man, receiving his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi and his Master’s degree in Seminary from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. He served as the pastor of Silver City United Methodist Church in Silver City, MS, and First United Methodist Church in Belzoni, MS. Rev. Tucker was valued as a strong, Christian man who always took care of his family and friends. He was an active member of Oxford University United Methodist Church, and he adored his church family. He was an incredibly personable and loving friend, who had a way of making others feel comfortable around him. He was an avid outdoorsman, and he enjoyed nothing more than a good fishing trip. Rev. Tucker also loved anything and everything Ole Miss. He was a die-hard fan, and he was very proud to be a part of the Ole Miss Alumni family. Mr. Tucker will truly be missed by all who knew him. Rev. Tucker is survived by his daughter, Natalie (Charles) Bowen of Oxford; his two sons, Stephen (Neely Morrow) Tucker of Paris, MS, and Wesley (Sydney) Tucker of Okinawa, Japan; four granddaughters, Calie (Joey) Branson, Ally Bowen, Ginny Lou Tucker, and Lila Kate Johnson; five grandsons, Brett Bowen, James Reece Johnson, Braxton Wayne Burke, Brendan Tucker, and Isaac Tucker; one sister, June (Tim) Weisheim of Lebanon, IN; two brothers, Neal Tucker of Crawford, MS, and Joe (Nancy) Tucker of Baton Rouge, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Rev. Tucker was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Tucker and Mary Christopher Tucker. Donations and memorials in honor of Rev. Howard E.
