Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven Hugh “June” Joyner, Jr. passed away April 10, 2022 in Southaven, MS. A visitation will be held Friday, April 15, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven (626 Star Landing Road East, Southaven, MS 38672). A funeral service will immediately follow at 12 p.m., also at Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven. Interment will be at Desoto Memorial Gardens (630 Star Landing Rd East, Southaven, MS 38672). Pastor Paul Hamlin will be officiating. Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of arrangements. Hugh was born April 6, 1929 in Collierville, TN. He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corp and served in the Korean War. His service earned him the Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal, and the Presidential Unit Citation. He married his wife, Brenda, on March 1, 1952, and spent 70 beautiful years together. Hugh loved to watch baseball, and was the Atlanta Brave’s biggest fan. He was also a skilled carpenter, or as his family described, a jack of all trades. Hugh Joyner, Jr. is survived by his wife, Brenda Joyner of Nesbit, MS; his sons, Randy (Donna) Joyner of Southaven and Steve (Tina) Joyner of Hernando, MS; his daughter, Myra (Tom) Reiman of Nesbit; his granddaughters, Candace (Doug) Davis of Olive Branch, MS, Brandi (Kiven) Busby of Coldwater, MS, and Jessica (Steven) Morris of Atoka, TN; his grandson, Kyle Joyner of Hernando; his great-grandsons, Josh (Alaina) Emerson, Steven (Sydney) McDonald, Avery Davis, and Brody Morris; his great-granddaughters, Hannah Russell, Danielle Bonicelli, and Parker Bonicelli; his great-great-grandsons, Austin Emerson and Braxton Emerson; his great-great-granddaughters, Khloe Pegues and Presley McDonald; his brothers, Guy (Francis) Joyner and Billy (Mary) Joyner, both of Walnut, MS; and his sisters, Lou (Jack) Stone of Horn Lake, MS and Daisy (Dean) Graham of Southaven, MS. Hugh was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Samuel Joyner, Sr. and Maggie Joyner; his son, Larry Joyner; his grandson, Christopher Joyner; his great-grandson, Gage Davis; and his siblings, David Joyner, Jessie Mae Carruthers, Raymond Joyner, Frank Joyner, Neal Joyner, Elgin Joyner, and Francis Howell.
