Jerry Brooks Hancock Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Jerry Brooks Hancock, 91, years of age, died from congestive heart failure on Friday, October 9, 2020. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ouida Faye (Styers) Hancock after 58 years of marriage. He was born in Jonesboro, AR, on May 7, 1929, to Stanley and Ethel Hancock. He attended High School in Leachville, AR, where he was Valedictorian of his class, following the footsteps of his older brothers, Stanley and Jack, as well as his mother, Ethel (all Valedictorians). Jerry graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor’s degree in education. He served in the U.S. Army for 5 years and the U.S. Air Force for 27 years and retired as a Lt. Colonel. He was known in the community as the owner of Ray Brother’s Automotive which he bought in 1998 and operated until he sold the business in 2018. “Mr. Jerry” was known by his customers and friends to be generous and helpful. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his children, Jerry Brooks, Jr. and his wife Selma; Richard Augustus and his wife Sheila; Micki Marie Lamb and her husband John; and Vicki Faye Ellis and her husband Marty. He leaves a legacy of 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held with Military Honors at 2:00 p.m. on October 14, 2020, at the Historic College Hill Presbyterian Church, (339 CR 102/College Hill Road, Oxford MS 38655).
