The funeral service will be Friday, June 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Maples Memorial United Methodist Church in Olive Branch. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Oxford, MS. Rev. Scott Larson will officiate. Jerry was a founding partner at Family Medical Clinic in Southaven, MS, where he was a nurse practitioner. Jerry was a member of Central Church in Collierville for over 30 years. His love for the Lord was evident through his gentle, kind demeanor, and his love to serve others. Whether it was his patients, friends, or family, Jerry gave above and beyond what was asked of him, deliberately choosing to put others before himself. Jerry’s life was a true depiction of Christ’s love for us. Jerry’s love for animals and the outdoors began when he was a young boy. He grew up in the Tennessee 4-H program, where he loved to show livestock of all kinds. As Jerry grew older, he became an avid outdoorsman. Whether it was redfish trips to Louisiana, pheasant hunting trips to South Dakota, or whitetail and duck hunting in Mississippi, Jerry was always doing what he loved with his friends and sons. When he was home, Jerry would cook delicious meals for his friends and family on his famous green egg. Lastly, Jerry loved watching baseball. Although he was forced to find this love due to his sons playing for many years, Jerry grew to love baseball because he knew how much the sport meant to his sons. He leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Julie Peyton McLarty of Olive Branch; sons, Brandon McLarty (Catie) of Memphis, TN and Ben McLarty (Chandler) of Atlanta, GA; father, Jerry McLarty of Byhalia, MS; sister, Janet Jolley (Jim) of Byhalia; brother, Curtis McLarty (Marsha) of Oxford, MS and several nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Lonon McLarty.
