Jimmie Richard Sloan Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch Jimmie Richard Sloan, 85, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 12, 2021. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. at Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch. Interment will follow at Barton Methodist Church cemetery. Pastor Danny Allen will officiate. Mr. Sloan grew up on a dairy farm and started buying cows at the age of thirteen. He was a dairy farmer for his entire life and enjoyed every minute on his farm. Jimmie was a man of faith and a successful business man. As an only child, Jimmie enjoyed playing basketball and in high school he was voted Mr. Byhalia in 1953. Jimmie was a member of the Dairymen’s Association and a member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Lewisburg. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age and was baptized at 80 years old to show his profession of faith. He will be remembered as a great father, as he took Christine and Cynthia as his own when he married Charlene. Later he became a grandfather to four children he adored. Jimmie Richard is survived by his wife, Charlene Hudson Sloan of Barton; daughters, Dr. Christine (Joe) Mueller of Cockrum and Cynthia (Jarrod) Dixon of Olive Branch; grandchildren, Brittany (Brandon) Middleton of Byhalia, MS, Tye Dixon of Olive Branch, Lydia Harris of Cockum, Jace Dixon of Olive Branch; one great-grandchild, Waylon Middleton of Byhalia and a host of cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Laverne and Preston Sloan and cousin, Edward Sloan of Barton. In lieu of traditional flowers, memorials may be made to New Prospect Baptist Church or Barton Methodist Church Cemetery.
