Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Joe J. Bennett, born February 22, 1931, age 76, died Saturday, January 12, 2008, at his home near Oxford, MS. Joe was the president and owner of Joe Bennett Construction Company for 33 years until his retirement in 1998. He belonged to the original Civitan Club, was a member and an inactive deacon at the First Baptist Church of Abbeville, a former member at North Oxford Baptist Church, and a member of the Mississippi Road Builders.He was a charter member of Associate Builders and Contractors (ABC) while in business. Visitation will be held Monday, January 14, 2008, from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Randy Hope and Bro. John Stewart officiating. Interment will be in the Abbeville Cemetery, Abbeville, MS. Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Joe leaves his wife of 31 years, Betty M. Bennett, three sons, Michael Wayne Bennett and David Brian Bennett, both of Oxford, MS, Ronald Glenn Bennett of Independence, MS; three daughters, Debra Ann Bennett of Southaven, MS, Sandra B. Jackson of Abbeville, MS and Tracy B. Coleman of Oxford, MS; two brothers, James E. (Ed) Bennett and Clinton Bennett, both of Oxford, MS; one sister, Ruby McLarty of Oxford, MS; 8 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, 1 great-grandson and 1 great-granddaughter.
