Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Johnny Russell Edwards, age 65, died Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at his home in Lafayette County, MS. Born in Calhoun County, MS, Mr. Edwards had resided in the Oxford area the majority of his life. A member of the Old Dallas Hunting Club, he loved hunting and fishing. Mr. Edwards enjoyed farming and working the land. He especially loved his family, wife, children, grandchildren, and life in general. He was a member of the Pine Bluff Church of Christ. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 25, 2008, 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 26, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel with Gene Collums, Hal Johnson, and Bill Russell officiating. Interment will be in the Pine Bluff Cemetery, CR 431, Oxford, MS. Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Betty Varner Edwards of Oxford, MS; three daughters, Patricia Edwards Redmond (John) of Collierville, TN, Shelia Edwards Goolsby (Paul) and Stefanie Edwards Michaud (Luc), both of Oxford, MS; one son, Daron Edwards (Tiffany) of Oxford, MS; his parents, J. B. & Nellie Edwards of Oxford, MS; three sisters, Paulette Edwards Barbee and Doris Edwards Logan, both of Banner, MS and Joann Edwards Barefield of Vardaman, MS; one brother, Travis Dean Edwards of Oxford, MS; 9 grandchildren, Chase and Tyler Goolsby, Ashley and Kimberly Redmond, Harrison, Caleb and Hannah Edwards, Veronique and Domonique Michaud and 1 great-grandchild, Lani Goolsby.
