Juanita Harwell Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Juanita Richardson Harwell, 90, died on Monday, January 28, 2008, at her residence in Lafayette County, MS. Mrs. Harwell was born in Winston County, MS, but had lived in Lafayette County for 70 years. She had taught school for 22 years and had been the chief clerk at the U.S. Probation Service in Oxford, MS, for 22 years before retiring. Mrs. Harwell was a member of the DAR who enjoyed genealogical research and reading. She had traveled abroad extensively. Watching and feeding various types of birds was one of her hobbies. Mrs. Harwell was a member of Tula Baptist Church in Tula, MS. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2008, from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Sockwell officiating. Interment will be in the Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include a son, Clifford Harwell and wife, Debbie, of Oxford, MS; one sister, Dorothy McCullough of Magee, MS; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Harwell was preceded in death by her husband, James Edwin Harwell; her parents, Claude and Gertrude Turner Richardson; four brothers, Pat Richardson, Claude Richardson, Jr., Earl Richardson and Fred Richardson; one sister, Deana Russell.
