Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven Mrs. Judy Kay Haines, 76, passed away peacefully Friday, June 11, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Memphis. Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Haines was born August 12, 1944, in LaPorte, IN. Her fiercely independent and commanding presence, in conjunction with her cleverness and many talents, allowed her to be an extremely savvy entrepreneur and businesswoman throughout her life. Those who knew Judy, knew her to always be in control of any and all situations. Judy loved her family and cherished large holiday celebrations with them. She enjoyed many varieties of crafting, especially scrapbooking. Christmas was her favorite time of the year and she enjoyed decorating, cooking and spending time with the whole family. She also looked forward to the annual 4th of July hog roast where ‘strawberry goop’ was always the requested favorite. Judy loved to sing and dance, especially to Elvis. The family will miss hearing her sing, “M-I-C” and “Icky Dicky Do”. Another tradition that Judy held dear was taking her family to Disney where “It’s a Small World” was a must stop. Judy had an adventuring spirit. Many nights she spent in the Haines’ RV traveling and exploring America’s treasures. Judy and Larry hid from the cold, spending many winter seasons in Florida. They would fill the days playing ‘hand and foot’ with friends and watching Notre Dame Football, often while sipping a cold Budweiser. Judy also had a keen way with animals and could frequently be found in the yard feeding and caring for her birds. Mrs. Judy Kay Haines is survived by her loving husband, Larry Haines of Walls, MS; two daughters and three sons; Connie Sue Haines of South Bend, IN, Denise Denĕ (Kevin) Kovatch of Horn Lake, MS, Phillip Roger (Peg) Haines of Eustis, FL, Michael Dale Edward (Salena) Hillman of Portland, TN, and David Matthew (Marcy) Haines of Lake Milton, OH; her brother, Dennis Dean (Karel) Finch of Stevensville, MI; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She also had a close relationship with many nieces, nephews, cousins and will be dearly missed by all. Mrs. Haines was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Lee Finch and LeVeda Maxine Walter Finch; two brothers, Larry Lee Finch and Daryl Finch; and three sisters, Sandra Irene Finch, Karen Anne Garver, and Jacquelyn Jo Gregory. Judy was the true matriarch of our family. To us, her role is one that can never be filled, but she would insist that she was just an “everyday Judy.” Donations and memorials in honor of Mrs. Judy Kay Haines may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/donate). At this time, the family is planning a celebration of life to be announced at a later date. Online condolences may be left on her Tribute Wall at www.colemanfuneralhome.com.
