Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven Mrs. Laurie Elise Griffin Johnson, 49, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at Methodist Olive Branch Hospital. A visitation will be held Saturday, April 24, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Getwell Church (7875 Getwell Rd., Southaven, MS 38672). A memorial service will immediately follow at 4:00 p.m., also at Getwell Church. Pastor Jonathan Wallace will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Johnson was born in New Albany, MS, on June 30, 1971. She was a devoted wife and mother, putting all her efforts into taking care of her daughter and family. Mrs. Laurie was a wonderful Christian lady, and she lived her life for her Lord and Savior. She was a proud member of Getwell Church in Southaven. Laurie had a passion for her job as a Speech Language Pathologist. She obtained her Master’s Degree from Louisiana Tech University. She dedicated over 20 years of her life serving the children of the Olive Branch School System. She was an upfront and genuine person, and you always knew where you stood with her. Laurie had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her four cats and two dogs. She also had a passion for collecting different types of tea pots and anything pertaining to the movie, “Wizard of Oz.” She will truly be missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Laurie Elise Johnson is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy Johnson of Southaven; her daughter, Elise Ray Johnson of Southaven; her step-daughter, Samantha Johnson of Missouri; her mother, Donna Monroe of Florida; her father, Ray (Gloria) Griffon of Florida; her mother-in-law, Roberta Johnson of Pettigrew, AR; her father-in-law, Jimmy Johnson, Sr. of Farmington, AR; three brothers, Brad Griffin of Georgia; Tyler (Misty) Griffin of Florida; and Michael (Leigh) Monroe of Tupelo, MS; one aunt, Arelia Lowe of Memphis, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
