Mary Louise Carter Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Mary Louise James Carter, 83, passed away Friday, October 26, 2007 at Milan General Hospital in Milan, TN. Mrs. Carter, formerly of Oxford, MS, had lived in Memphis, TN over 35 years prior to her death. She had been a member of the Elliston Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. Mrs. Carter was a member of the Red Hat Society, an avid bingo player, enjoyed reading and loved her friends and family unconditionally. Visitation will be Sunday, October 28, 2007, 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 28, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Calvin Warren officiating. Interment will be in Kingdom Cemetery in Lafayette County, MS. Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Carter is survived by a daughter, Doris Lynn Covington of Memphis, TN and a son, Jimmy D. James of Medon, TN; three sisters, Peggy Carter of Oxford, MS and Kat Huckaby and Dot Godwin, both of Memphis, TN; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Her parents, Leland and Lucy K. Kellum, her husband, Carl Carter, and a great-grandson, Jacob Alan Durham, all preceded Mrs. Carter in death. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
