July 9, 1964 - January 7, 2022
Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch On January 7, 2022, Pamela Pickett (neé Lunt) departed this life and reunited with her Heavenly Father surrounded by the two things she loved most: music and her family. Pamela was born on July 9, 1964, to parents Alan Kenneth Lunt and Lillie Martha Day in Provo, Utah. When Pamela was six months old, the Lunt family moved to Whittier, California, where she grew up the eldest sister of six siblings in a home surrounded by her father’s many fruit trees and lush backyard garden. Pamela’s parents were faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and early on instilled a tender love for the Savior which would guide her throughout her life. Pamela was a hard worker, often assisting her mother in caring for her younger siblings. In high school and her early twenties, she worked at Disneyland, offering magical and funny stories for friends and family for years to come. When she was nineteen, she met her eternal sweetheart at church and married Steve in the Los Angeles Temple on September 15, 1984. Raising five children, Pamela had a talent for creating loving homes and establishing dear networks of friends in the Greater Los Angeles and Riverside California areas; Blue Springs, Missouri; Lakeville, Minnesota; and Olive Branch, Mississippi, where she passed away. She was a voracious reader of the scriptures and classics from around the world. She was a talented pianist who dedicated much of her time to playing for church worship services and the children’s Sunday school. Testifying of her love of children, Pamela taught introductory piano for many years and worked as an early childhood teacher. She was a dedicated patriot who loved her country and often served as an election judge in her community. Later in life, her impeccable palate secured her a job as a sensory panelist (food taster) at Malt-o-Meal and Post Foods in Lakeville, Minnesota, where she formed fast friendships with the women she worked alongside. In July 2017, Pamela was diagnosed with advanced-stage pancreatic cancer. She bravely fought the disease for four and a half years, defying the odds, allowing her to finish an Associate’s Degree from Brigham Young University-Idaho and be present for children’s weddings, beautiful family gatherings, and the birth of three grandchildren. She will always be remembered for being a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Friends and family often comment how Pamela always seemed to be happy, supportive, deeply kind, and an exemplar of strength in the face of difficult circumstances. Pamela was preceded in death by her mother, Lillie Martha. She was survived by her husband: Stephen; father: Alan Lunt; five siblings: Sandra Hill (Craig), Leslie Ann Moody, Rebecca Luna (Daryl), Daniel (Wendy), and Douglas (Shawna); five children: Nathaniel (Kathryn), Christopher (Kathleen); Duncan (Sarah); Sarah Elyse, and Abigail; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11AM Friday, January 14, 2022 at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 1255 Goodman Rd E, Southaven, Mississippi 38671. Masks are encouraged. Internment will be at Grove Cemetery in Lakeville, Minnesota.
