Peggy Little Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Peggy Petty Little, age 85, died Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. She was born September 5, 1924 on her parents’ farm outside Bellevue, TN, the daughter of Malcolm Arthur Petty and Doy Nicks Petty, both deceased. Mrs. Little graduated from Peabody College in Nashville, TN, where she met her future husband, Joseph Hardy Little, who had just returned from the European Theater of World War II. They married on December 14, 1946 and both embarked on careers in education beginning at Mt. Juliet, TN. Before moving to Oxford in 1997, she resided in Raleigh, NC for forty years. Mrs. Little was a member of the Oxford Church of Christ. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 24, 2009, 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 25, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Eric Dahl officiating. Interment will be in the Oxford Memorial Cemetery, Oxford, MS. Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include two daughters, Joan Little Westmoreland of Oxford, MS and Kathy Little McCormack of Hartford, CT; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Little was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Little, Jr.; one son, Joseph Hardy Little, III; one sister, Helen Petty McKaig.
