Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Philip Jefferson “Chief” Kyser, Jr., 81, died Friday, February 24, 2006, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford, MS. Mr. Kyser moved from Tuscaloosa, AL, to Oxford, MS, where he had lived a total of approximately 25 years. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Kyser was a member of the College Hill Heights Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Kiwanis, the American Legion, and a Mason. There will be a time of visitation and fellowship at the family’s home in Oxford on Sunday, February 26, 2006, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2006, at the Tuscaloosa Memorial Park and Chapel in Tuscaloosa, AL, with Bro. Steve Quarles officiating. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford, MS, is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Herrien Kyser of Oxford, MS; a son, Douglas Kyser of Oxford, MS; a daughter, Joy Kyser of Oxford, MS; one brother, Edmond Kyser of Auburn, AL; two sisters, Marilyn Brasswell of Birmingham, AL and Carolyn Dunleavy of Montgomery, AL; three grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Thanks and Giving, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
