Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Roy Jeffrey Sandefer, age 48, died Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS. Mr. Sandefer was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a graduate of the University of Mississippi. He retired after 21 years with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics as an associate director, lieutenant colonel. He was employed as an assistant chief of police for the City of Jackson Police Department in Jackson, Mississippi for 18 months. Visitation will be held Friday, April 18, 2008, 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 19, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steven Phillips officiating. Interment will be in the College Hill Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Lauren F. Sandefer of Laplace, LA; two daughters, Brittany M. Sandefer of Biloxi, MS and Lakin N. Felder of Laplace, LA; one son, Tyler Jeffrey Sandefer of Laplace, LA; his mother, Omie B. Payne (Charles) of Plantersville, MS; his father, Roy S. Sandefer (Virginia) of Oxford, MS; two sisters, Debora Hernandez (Joel) of Plantersville, MS and Janet Harris (Jerry) of Huntsville, AL; one brother, Scott Sandefer (Cristi) of Pontotoc, MS; one nephew, Tony Mask (Suzy) of Walnut, MS; three nieces, Jordan and Jenna Harris of Huntsville, AL and Shelby Sandefer of Pontotoc, MS; two great-nieces, Danielle and Paige Mask of Walnut, MS. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Memorial and Honor Program, St. Jude Childrens’ Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
