He was born with an incredibly wonderful sense of humor, a soothing and calm demeanor, and an ability to fix almost anything. As a young man he made the solemn decision to serve his country and enlisted into the United States Navy. He was extremely dedicated to the Navy and was proud of his service. Above all, Russell loved his family and spending time with them. He enjoyed traveling across the country with his wife, of 58 years, Patricia, in their motor home. He could often be found near the water, as boating and fishing were favorite pastimes of his. Mr. Sylvester’s children have many happy memories of fishing with their dad. Mr. Sylvester served his community by being a Mason. Mr. Russell Anthony Sylvester is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Anne Sylvester of Southaven, MS; his brother, James Sylvester, one son, Russell Anthony (Angela) Sylvester, Jr. of Southaven; and one daughter, Jennifer Anne Murphree of Pensacola, FL; five grandsons, Brandon Sylvester of Overland Park, KS, Zachary Murphree of Pensacola, Nathan Sylvester of Southaven, Jacob (fiancée, Aubrie Smith) Sylvester of Birmingham, AL, and Malachi Sylvester of Pensacola; and one granddaughter, Gabi (Jared) McNutt of Birmingham, AL; and a host of many nieces and nephews.
