Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch Shirley Marlene Schrod, 68, of Olive Branch, MS passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022. The family will receive friends and family on Thursday, May 12 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home in Olive Branch (6815 Parkview Blvd. Olive Branch, MS 38654). A service will follow at 6:00 p.m. Pastor Marvin Tharnish will officiate. Shirley was born on April 1, 1954 in Chattanooga, TN. She was a dedicated member of Brookside Baptist Church in Olive Branch. Shirley was involved with any service opportunities that were at the church, especially when it came to helping in the kitchen and the nursery. She was married to the love of her life, Allen, for 42 years. Shirley was loved and will be missed by many. Shirley is survived by her husband, Allen Schrod of Olive Branch, MS; sons, Ken Schrod (Naomi) of Southaven, MS and William Meyer (Lynn) of Dekalb, IL; step-father, Hubert C. Ake; granddaughters, Ashley Meyer of Dekalb, IL and Shalom Fisk (Tyler) of Southaven, MS; grandson, Billy Meyer of Dekalb, IL; sisters, Judy Ake of Kentucky, Doris Cox (Frank) of Ripley, TN, and Regina Ake of Dallas, TX; and a host of nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mearl Lee Colburn and daughter, Jennifer Carlson. In lieu of traditional flowers, memorials can be made in honor of Shirley Marlene Schrod to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.st.jude.org).
