Ted Brown Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch Ted Lewis Brown, 83, of Byhalia, MS passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm with the service to immediately follow at 2:00 pm at Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch. Reverend Stephen Sparks will officiate. The interment will be held at a later date at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. Rev. Stephen Sparks will officiate. Ted was born on July 23, 1938 in Martin, TN. He served honorably in the United States Army, where he did topographical surveying and trained new recruits to go to Vietnam. He was in the Brotherhood of Temple Israel. Ted worked as an architect and earned his certificate from the Architectural Engineering Institute. He was also a member of the Home Builders Association. He was lucky enough to be his own boss for sixty plus years. He was an incredibly talented and creative person and loved painting, drawing, and designing. He also enjoyed cooking and preparing meals for the whole family on weekends and holidays. He loved going to the casinos. Ted was married to the love of his life, Sharon Brown, for twenty six years. He was very family oriented and was a fantastic role model for their children and grandchildren. He passed all the kids art projects in school for them. To the kids dismay, he really loved watching black and white movies with the captions on. He especially enjoyed spending time with the grandkids and watching them grow. Ted is survived by his wife, Sharon N. Brown of Byhalia, MS; daughter, Wendy Purtle (Joe) of Hernando, MS; son, Winn Miller of Sarasota, FL; granddaughter, Avery Purtle of Hernando; and grandson, Logan Purtle of Hernando. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Birdie Mae and Floyd Brown; son, Todd Brown; and four siblings. In lieu of traditional flowers, memorials can be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org). In honor of Ted Brown’s service to our country, the flag of the United States Army will be flown at Coleman Funeral Home the day of the service.
