Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Wilma Rudell McCoy Parker, age 83, died Saturday, August 16, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. Born in Lafayette County, MS, Mrs. Parker had lived in the Oxford area over 40 years. She was a life member of the Purple Heart Club and the VFW. Mrs. Parker was very active in community organizations that included the Ladies Auxiliary, Save-A-Life, and the Lafayette County Homemakers. Being an avid gardener, she was involved in starting the Farmers’ Market in Oxford and the Recycling Center. Mrs. Parker was very artistically gifted as evidenced by her paintings and handmade items. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 17, 2008, from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 18, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, CR 429, Oxford, MS, with Bro. Ken White and Bro. Larry Wise officiating. Interment will be in the Shiloh Cemetery. Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include her husband, Clarence M. Parker of Oxford, MS; three sons, Marion “Butch” Parker of Oakland, TN, Johnny Parker of Oxford, MS and Robert “Alan” Parker of Hernando, MS; one daughter, Wilma Lee Beeler of Tyler TX; one sister, Geneva Maples of Oxford, MS; four brothers, Garland McCoy of Pope, MS, J.C. McCoy of El Paso, TX, Troy L. McCoy of Thaxton, MS and Johnny Q. McCoy of Oxford, MS; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her parents, William Elbert and Ruby McCoy and one sister, Betty Lou Jones, preceded Mrs. Parker in death. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Gideons, P.O. Box 142, Oxford, MS 38655.
